This
artist proportional divider
is made of
American Oak Hardwood.
The divider measures 14 inches from point to point and is 1/2" wide. Each
leg or side of the divider is 1/4" thick.
The divider has 14 adjusting holes to change the size to transfer your image.
These holes are precision drill in line for a accurate measurement.
The proportional divider is constructed with two matching cut pieces of Oak Hardwood.
cut to the exact length. The divider has a solid brass screw and brass knurled thumb nut.
The divider also comes with two compression washers. One attached to the screw and
the other will slip over the screw for easy positioning to adjustment the size you need.
These washers hold the divider in position but can be easily adjusted.
I'm a trained machinist and also an artist. So I take great care in making these dividers
to be used by the new young artist. Learning how to draw and draw in the right proportion.
Many accomplished artist use artist proportional dividers.
My artist proportional dividers are high quality and very accurate for precision drawing.
With each divider the materials are cut and drilled to precise dimensions.
The American Oak Dividers are sanded to a beautiful wood grain finish and two protective
coats are applied for a natural wood grain finish which also seals the wood.
The metal proportional dividers are also cut and drilled to precise dimensions and polished
to a fine finish. Then a finish protecting coat is applied.
Artist proportional dividers are a tool for the artist that allows you to transfer an image from
a still life or photo or even working plein air for landscapes can be very helpful.
The divider helps you do this staying in the right proportion or scale you choose for your
drawing.
I'm a retired U.S. Navy veteran as well as an artist. I was searching for a reasonably priced
& Quality proportional divider that was accurate and would last but could not find one.
So do to my experience as a machinist & artist I decided to make my own.
I make three different sizes of dividers an 8 inch, 12 inch and 14 inch. The 8 inch is used for
smaller work pieces and the 12 inch and 14 inch for transferring larger images ,but also can be used at smaller scale.
I make wooden ones from American oak hardwood for those who prefer wood and high grade
aluminum metal for people that want metal ones.
All my proportional dividers are made accurately and with pride of workmanship.
I love working with my hands as an artisan or craftsman and also love drawing and painting
as an artist.
