FROM THERE, I HAD A SINGLE CAVITY ALUMINUM INJECTION MOLD MADE THAT WAS GUARANTEED FOR 1,000,000 UNITS. NEXT WAS TO HAVE PACKAGING MADE. I HAVE AROUND 6000 BOXED AND PERFECT PACKAGES AS SEEN IN THE PICTURES.
THE CONCEPT FOR THE PRODUCT CAME FROM ALWAYS HAVING TISSUE BOXES IN THE CAR / VAN WHEN WE HAD YOUNG CHILDREN. THE TISSUE BOX WOULD ROLL AROUND AND GET CRUSHED AND DIRTY AND HARD TO LOCATE WHEN DRIVING. SO, MOTION WAS THE ISSUE THAT NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED. I REALIZED THAT RV'S, BOAT CABINS, PLANES AND ALL TYPES OR CARS, TRUCKS, VANS ETC COULD ALSO FIND A PRODUCT LIKE THIS USEFUL. THE SOLUTION TO CREATING STABILITY WAS ADDING FLAPS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TISSUE HOLDER AND USING VELCRO TO STABILIZE.
WHILE TRYING TO GET THE PRODUCT INTO THE STORES AFTER IT WAS READY TO GO, AN OPPORTUNITY CAME MY WAY AND I HAD TO PUT THINGS ON HOLD TO FOCUS ON THIS NEW JOB. I HAD STRONG INTEREST FROM RV GIANT CAMPING WORLD AFTER IT HAD BEEN PUBLISHED IN THEIR MAGAZINE IN THE NEW PRODUCTS SECTION AND SOLD 42 UNITS TO PEOPLE WHO SAW THE ITEM AND ORDERED THEM. THE PROBLEM ENDED UP BEING THAT I ONLY HAD THE ONE PRODUCT AND THE CAMPING WORLD HEAD BUYER DID NOT WANT TO ADD ANOTHER VENDOR WITH ONLY ONE PRODUCT.
THE PRODUCT STILL HAS MUCH POTENTIAL TODAY BUT NEEDS SOME MOTIVATED AND AMBITIOUS ENERGY TO GET IT ON TO THE SHELVES. MY COST PER UNIT WAS AROUND .00 BACK THEN. PROBABLY WOULD BE AROUND .00 NOW AND COULD WHOLESALE FOR AROUND AND RETAIL AROUND .99.
THE COLORED UNITS WERE MADE FROM POLYPROPYLENE PLASTIC AND THE CLEAR UNITS WERE MADE FROM STYRENE. THE CUBE TISSUE BOXES HAVE NOT CHANGED THEIR DIMENSIONS IN PROBABLY 50 YEARS SO THE SHAPE IS STILL PERFECT AND ATTRACTIVE.
